These services are needed due to the increased demand for quality year round facilities to play in, the smaller amount of participants needed for each team (increasing playing time for each player) and the increasing growth in the popularity of soccer in the United States
Trey Brocksen Scharlin: Director Deft Touch Soccer
Trey has an extensive background in coaching and has also played soccer for over 20 years. Competing at various levels as a player, he has been involved in AYSO, club, high school, college & semi-professional soccer leagues. He currently holds his National D license and AAF advanced coaching license. As the Head Coach of Los Alamitos High School boys’ varsity soccer (1998-2002), he lead the team to their first CIF championship in the past decade. For which, he was named the back to back Sunset League Coach of the Year (2001-2002), CIF Coach of the Year (2002), LA Times Coach of the Year (2002) and AAF Coach of the Year (2002). Trey has also served as the Southern High School All Star team Head Coach. At the college level, he served as the Head Asst. Men's Soccer Coach at Long Beach City College for three years. Followed by Co- Head Women's Soccer Coach at Cerritos College for one year. In addition to his High School and College coaching experience, he coached for several clubs in the area before most recently spending five years as President and Director of Coaching for Beach Soccer Club. He presently serves as Director of Coaching for Long Beach Soccer Club.
Greg Halverson: Director Deft Touch Soccer
Greg has 20 years experience as a coach and player, working for various schools and clubs in California before joining DTSC. Greg currently holds a National C license. The two-time MVP at Long Beach City College was named captain of the squad his sophomore season. His college soccer career was completed at CSU Dominguez Hills, where he held second and first team all league honors. He coached the Mayfair High School boys' varsity team to its second CIF birth in twenty years. Followed by developing the women's soccer program at North Torrance High School. At the college level, he has assisted the Long Beach City College men's and Cerritos College women's soccer programs. Greg served as Beach Soccer clubs Technical Director for two years while also playing a coaching role for three teams. In his role with Beach, he orchestrated speed and strength sessions as well as running finishing drill camps. He's created individual training curriculum, which has assisted several players in attaining college and Olympic development opportunities. He presently coaches two teams for Long Beach Soccer Club and serves as their technical advisor.
Willi Schiffmann: International Director Deft Touch Soccer
Willi has 30 years experience as a coach and player working with various clubs in Gelsenkirchen Germany. Willi currently holds a Germany Youth C Lic. From 1977 till 1987 he played for Eintracht Gelsenkirchen senior div. 2 team. While coaching at various clubs in Germany, Willi has won 6 league championships from the U14-U18 age groups. He helped organize the first indoor soccer tournament for Arminia Uekendorf in January 1990. In addition to coaching, Willi has served as president of the youth programs for Arminia Uekendorf, WSV Bochum and currently holds the position of youth president for Rot Weiss Leithe. He has also organized yearly trips and tournament participation for his youth programs to the USA, Poland, France, and the Czech Republic.
